Mother's Day

Posted a new episode of "From Richard's Heart" yesterday. This is the Mother's Day episode. i consider this an extra special podcast episode. i've listened to everyone's comments regarding their mothers over 100 times while editing this episode. All i can say is wow, what a wonderful tribute to our mothers. All of us have good reason to thank God each day for the love our moms gave us during our lifetime.

By the way, this is episode five of our podcast series. This represents a milestone in the podcasting world. Most new podcasts never last beyond five episodes. i understand why. Producing each episode requires a tremendous amount of work. Many new podcasters lose interest in producing a regular show around the third or fourth episode.

Lord willing, i still plan on producing a new episode of "From Richard's Heart" about every two weeks. i would love to do a weekly podcast, but so far i haven't figured out how to record Richard during the weeks i can't be in church. i also don't know where i would find the time to edit the recordings. Nevertheless, i am praying for a way to record episodes during the weeks i can't be in church.

For those of you who are inclined to pray, pray for Richard's health. Pray also that Richard and i remain open to appropriate material for this podcast series. Finally, pray for God's blessing as we continue to produce this podcast over the summer months.

Preparing for Sunday

i just spent five hours working on our sound system. Anyone entering our sanctuary right now would see no evidence of my being there. Nothing looks different. Well almost nothing.

If i have done my job correctly, people will be able to hear our worship leaders this Sunday. When Richard returns, his microphone will give me fewer feedback problems. And other people will be able to use our sound system effectively during our worship services. All this without any visible evidence of my being in our church building today.

i did this because i like church. i like worshiping God. i like seeing other people enjoy God's presence. i like contributing to our church body.

God often does amazing things in our lives. We enjoy his love and forgiveness. Many of us go to church on Sunday knowing the grace God gave us during the week. We experience God's work in our lives, and often there is no obvious external evidence of God's efforts in our lives.

Yet we know God is here at work in our life. We experience the benefits of his efforts. We experience hope in hopeless situations. We know joy. We wake up able to love. Nothing in our world has changed. Except we know God's work has made our life experience better.

Thank you, God, for your invisible work within our lives. Amen.
